Marketing the Worship Experience

Posted in Christianity, Music, Worship on April 30, 2008 by Chris

I try very hard to keep my work life (music pastor) separate from my family life, including on my family blog. That’s why I have a music website to blog on (Albemarle First Music). However, I came across an article that I would like to share and discuss with many of you who actually read this blog.

I love God and I love music. I love that God has given me a job where I can take two things I love and put them together by singing and leading others in worship to God, whom I love most. In the christian arena of music, there is a discussion regarding the identity of today’s worship experience. Some believe it has been twisted into something more than what the Bible intended. Brian McLaren shares his heart-perspective on the marketing of worship. To keep from tainting the viewer’s perspective, I will wait and post my comment on this at a later time.  But please…tell me what you think.  Is the worship music industry becoming propaganda?
